At Results Publishing Group and Reminder Publications, Inc., our networking strategy is a simple one we make every effort to become involved with and visible in the community as time and resources allow. That commitment includes joining and participating in any number of professional business organizations including area Chambers of Commerce, Rotary Clubs, Kiwanis Clubs, Lion's Clubs and Exchange Clubs. It is our belief that networking is not an option; it is imperative if you plan to grow your business!
Some, if not all, of these organizations allow member companies to sponsor their breakfast meetings, so be a sponsor once in a while, donate gift certificates and reach a couple of hundred prospects in the process.
Make the most of more formal venues, too. With trade shows, for example, have a presence in every appropriate business or social show in your market. But don't be a passive participant. Make it a point to visit all your fellow exhibitors, sponsor parts of or all of the show when applicable. And bring great handouts off-the-wall stuff like yoyos, toy airplanes and the like something unique to be remembered by.
Finally, it is our shared belief that giving back to the community is a corporate responsibility which includes volunteering to serve on the boards of non-profit organizations as well as serving on those committees within those organizations where your personal talents and business acumen will be put to best use.
Networking can be fun and profitable, if you want it to be. So get out there and have some fun.
